The Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) has received conditional approval from the Confederation of African Football (CAF) for the Levy Mwanawasa Stadium to host Zambia's upcoming World Cup qualifier against Congo Brazzaville on November 17th. FAZ's general secretary, Reuben Kamanga, made the announcement in a Facebook video posted on the association's official page on Monday afternoon. However, Kamanga mentioned that FAZ will need to work on the dressing rooms, playing field, and substitute benches if the stadium is to be certified by CAF to host international matches going forward. In June of this year, Zambia had both of their venues, Heroes Stadium and Levy Mwanawasa Stadium, banned from hosting international games due to their poor condition. Heroes Stadium was completely removed from the list of stadiums for CAF and FIFA-sanctioned games, while Levy Mwanawasa Stadium was given conditional approval. The conditional approval for the Levy Mwanawasa Stadium is good news for Zambia, as they will now be able to play their opening World Cup qualifier at home with the support of their fans.
