Zambia had a slow start to the game, with the visitors, Ivory Coast, enjoying most of the possession in the early stages of the match. The Ivory Coast had some half chances, but most of them were off target and posed no real threat to Lawrence Mulenga's goal. Mulenga had a wonderful first half with his good positioning in goal. In the 32nd minute, Zambia took the lead when Ivory Coast campaigner Serge Aurier netted in his own goal with a strong back pass that beat his keeper. The fully packed Levy Mwanawasa stadium went into a frenzy of celebration as Zambia was now just 45 minutes away from making their return to the AFCON tournament after a lengthy absence. The second half is coming up soon.
