After securing his spot at the 2024 Paris Olympic Games, flyweight boxer Patrick Chinyemba is already plotting his path to a podium finish in France. In an interview from Dakar, Senegal, Chinyemba expressed pride in his performance and revealed his plans for intensive training in preparation for the Olympic tournament. His hard work paid off as he became the first Zambian athlete to qualify for the Paris Olympics after winning gold, defeating Tunisian boxer Ala Eddine in the flyweight final. Chinyemba, a two-time Olympian, is determined to add an Olympic medal to his achievements after previously reaching the round of 16 at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics and securing bronze at the 2022 Birmingham Commonwealth Games. Zambia wins Gold medal at the African Continent Paris 2024 Olympic Qualifiers in Boxing, Dakar, Senegal. Zambian Patrick Chinyemba is the only male boxer from Eastern, Western, and Southern Africa who has won a Gold Medal and qualified for the Paris, France 2024 Olympics. The rest of the Gold medal winners are from North Africa, including Algeria, Tunisia, Morocco, and Egypt. Unfortunately, several other Zambian boxers, including Mwengo Mwale, Hilda Ng'andwe, Felistus Nkandu, Mary Mhango, Margaret Tembo, and Andrew Chilata, did not secure Olympic berths. The boxers are expected to return home today, reflecting on their journey and preparing for future opportunities.
