The Football Association of Zambia recently held the first-ever Club Licensing Online Platform (CLOP) workshop, putting Zambia among the first African countries to do so. CLOP is an online system that allows FAZ, CAF, clubs, and other stakeholders to manage the process of club licensing fully online and electronically. FAZ is being guided by the 2022 CAF Club Licensing regulations that all member associations must use CLOP to operate their licensing system every season, and all clubs must submit the required information and documentation through the system. FAZ has also requested CAF to come and train Zambian clubs to save them from putting their participation in the CAF interclubs men's and women's competitions at risk, as they are informed that from the 2024/25 season, the use of CLOP will be mandatory for the processing of club licensing applications for participation in CAF Interclub competitions and domestic competitions. FAZ President Andrew Kamanga thanked CAF for accepting the request to hold the workshop and sent CAF CLOP Officer Mr. Hamza Sorouri from Morocco and CAF Club Licensing Instructor Mr. Emmanuel Disoberi of Ghana to Zambia for the same. Kamanga also said clubs are expected to run affairs more professionally and effectively with the operationalization of the Zambia Premier League (ZPL), urging them to utilize CLOP instead of using the manual way of managing the modern game.
