The Zambia women's national football team, the Copper Queens, is expected to arrive home this afternoon after making their debut appearance at the FIFA Women's World Cup in New Zealand and Australia. The Copper Queens were placed in Group C alongside Spain, Japan, and Costa Rica. They started their campaign with a 5-0 loss to Japan and then suffered another 5-0 defeat to Spain. However, they bounced back to beat Costa Rica 3-1 in their final group match. The Copper Queens finished third in their group with three points and were eliminated from the tournament. However, they will return home with their heads held high after making history by becoming the first Zambian team to compete at a senior World Cup. The team is expected to arrive at Lusaka International Airport at 2:00 pm local time.
