Francisco Mwepu, the younger brother of former Chipolopolo captain Enock Mwepu, is determined to make a positive contribution to the national team. Mwepu is currently on loan at Atlético Sanluqueño from Spanish La Liga side Cadiz, where he has scored six goals in seven games this season and is currently the leading top scorer in the Primera Federacion. He is currently with the national team in Dubai as they prepare for a friendly match against Uganda on Tuesday. He spoke to the media and said that he is privileged to represent the country and is happy to be with the team and contribute to the nation. "For me, it's a privilege and there is always pressure to be here," Mwepu said. "I am happy to be here; I just want to contribute to the team and ensure that the team progresses." Mwepu was a second-half substitute in Zambia's 1-0 loss to Egypt on Thursday, but he showcased his quality during the few minutes that he was on the pitch. Mwepu believes that games like these are of high quality and have a high level of competition. "It's a good feeling; you know those are high-quality games, and the competition is always intense," Mwepu said. Zambia will face Uganda on Tuesday, who may appear to be an easier opponent compared to Egypt on paper, but Mwepu states that there are no easy games in international football. "There are no small games in the national team; even against Uganda, it's a tough game, it's a good friendly game, and we just need to give our best," Mwepu said. The young Zambian attacker, who is enjoying his time in Spain, hopes to replicate his club form in the national team. "I am performing well in my club; I just hope I can help the national team score goals as a striker," Mwepu said. "I hope I can replicate that with the national team." Mwepu will be hoping that coach Avram Grant will provide him with more playing time in the game against Uganda on Tuesday, so that he can attempt to replicate his form shown at his club.
