FC Muza's unbeaten record in the league came to an end on Wednesday afternoon with a controversial last-minute refereeing decision against Nkwazi Football Club. Muza had gone 10 games in the league without defeat and were hoping to maintain that record when they travelled to Lusaka for their week eleven fixture. However, they did not have a bright start to the game, going down just five minutes in with Joseph Sabobo Banda's well-taken shot inside the box after leaving the defense for dead. Following the goal, Nkwazi dominated the majority of the first half until Muza managed to find their rhythm, and the game became more balanced. FC Muza managed to grab an equaliser in the 43rd minute via an own goal, with Muza striker Andrew Phiri heading the ball across the goal from a set-piece. The ball hit the stationary Henry Besa, beating his own keeper near the post to tie the game 1-1. After an evenly contested midfield battle, FC Muza was forced to make a halftime substitute, bringing in Solomon Mpasela and Chanda Chilishe for Dalitso Mbewe and Jonathan Ngoma. The substitutes shifted the momentum of the game in FC Muza's favour, and they enjoyed more possession. With six minutes of additional time shown on the clock, everything seemed to be pointing towards a draw or a win for FC Muza, who had applied a lot of pressure in Nkwazi's defence. However, it was Joseph Banda who won the corner that was headed in by Emmanuel Chabula in the 94th minute. For reasons only known to the officials, the whistle was blown for a foul to FC Muza. Muza even had a quick start to resume proceedings before the entire Nkwazi technical bench and substitute players ran onto the pitch to protest the referee's decision to deny the goal. The referee changed his mind and pointed to the centre, confirming a goal that was given as a free kick to Muza, causing confusion and leading to a stoppage in the game for more than 15 minutes before FC Muza players agreed to finish the game off and take the defeat. Meanwhile, FC Muza remains second on the table with a loss following Red Arrows' defeat to Zesco United. The top three remains unchanged, with Kabwe Warriors still on top following their 2-0 defeat against Kansanshi Dynamos, Muza second on the standings, followed by Red Arrows in third.
