Former Zambia U-17 captain Miguel Chaiwa has been named in the Young Boys squad for their UEFA Champions League matchday one fixture against RB Leipzig in Bern, Switzerland. The 19-year-old Zambian defender made his debut in the competition during the playoffs when Young Boys played against Maccabi Haifa. He featured in the second leg of a 0-0 draw after his side had won the first leg at home 3-0. If Chaiwa plays in the match against Leipzig, he will join Kings Kangwa, whose side Red Star Belgrade plays Manchester City on the same day, on the list of Zambians to have played in the UEFA Champions League group stage. Other Zambians who have played in the competition include Kalusha Bwalya, Fwayo Tembo, Fashion Sakala, Enock Mwepu, and Patson Daka. Chaiwa is a versatile defender who can play across the whole backline and can also be deployed as a holding midfielder. He is a highly-rated prospect and is expected to have a bright future ahead of him. The match between Young Boys and RB Leipzig kicks off at 18:45 CET.
