Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) President Andrew Kamanga has called on Zambian fans to rally behind the Copper Queens as they prepare for their next FIFA Women's World Cup match against Spain. The Copper Queens suffered a 5-0 loss to Japan in their opening Group C match on Saturday, but Kamanga believes that the team can bounce back and reach the second round of the tournament. "We consider the first game result as water under the bridge," Kamanga said in his weekly PRESIDENT'S CORNER column. "We are happy with the efforts the technical bench and staff have made to ensure that the next match on Wednesday against Spain yields better results." Kamanga also thanked the fans who have been supporting the Copper Queens, both in New Zealand and back home. "The fans back home have been terrific, with a lot of early morning public viewing places filled up to cheer on our team," he said. "We have no doubt the girls will reciprocate all this support with positive results." The Copper Queens will face Spain at Eden Park Stadium in Auckland on Wednesday. The match kicks off at 09:30 CST.
