Copper Queens team captain Susan Banda has said that the team has shown character so far in the 2023 Hollywoodbets Cosafa Championship, judging by their performance in the group stage of the competition as they fought for a semifinal place. Speaking ahead of the semifinal clash against Zimbabwe tomorrow, Banda said, "I think we have performed well. The team has shown character in terms of wanting to advance to the semifinals." Playing against Zimbabwe, who have been out of active tournaments due to a FIFA ban that was placed on the country, Zimbabwe has shown that they are a team to be concerned about, and Zambia will need to be at their best if they are to get the results they need to keep their hope of defending the title alive. Skipper Banda feels that Zimbabwe won't be an easy opponent, considering how they have been playing at this year's tournament. She called on the team to take the tie seriously. "Tomorrow's game will be a tough game," Banda said. "We don't have to underestimate them despite being away for quite some time without competing in any active football. We just need to go into the game with a fighting spirit, a team spirit, for us to carry the day." If Zambia manages to defend the Cosafa title, they will replicate their male counterparts, who defended their title during this year's tournament. Banda said the team is not under a lot of pressure, having worked so hard to be where they are now. "The pressure is not that much," Banda said. "The team has worked so hard, and we are determined to do the best for our country and make the country proud." Zambia and Zimbabwe will battle it out for a place in the final tomorrow with the match set to kick off at 12:00 hours Zambia time.
