The date for the 2023 Independence Challenge has been changed from Saturday, November 4, 2023, to Saturday, November 18, 2023. This change has been influenced by the Victoria Cup, where several players from the Zambia Rugby League will represent the national team against the Uganda Rugby Union and Kenya Rugby National teams. The new date marks the earliest commencement for the tournament, which will be hosted across two venues: the Chester Dean Arena and the Yotam Muleya Arena at the Lusaka Showgrounds. Additionally, three international teams, namely H.S.C, Pitbulls, and Mutare Sports Rugby Club, have confirmed their participation in the challenge.
