Thursday, 11th May 2023, Buffaloes started their first match with defeat at the ongoing Africa Volleyball tournament in Tunisia. Despite putting up a spirited fight, Green Buffaloes yesterday tumbled 3-2 to Mauritian side Olympique Montagne (OMG) in the opening match at the Africa Volleyball Championship in Tunisia. OMG Won the first set 25-23 but failed to maintain their lead, allowing Buffaloes to level in the second set with a 25-19 margin. The result inspired Buffaloes, who deservedly Won 25-20 in the third set. The Mauritians leveled in the fourth, quarter with a 25- 20 win to send the game to a tiebreaker. With both teams fighting for supremacy, Buffaloes dropped the guard when it mattered most and OMG Won 15-11. In an interview, Coach Jackson Mazumbo said that they were ensuring that they win their next match by working on a few mistakes they made in the previous game. "We wanted to win our first game, which could have given us a road map, but that has not happened. So we look to our next game, which we will fight hard for. This was just the opening game, we will bounce back, "The Buffaloes coach said. Buffaloes face Rukinzo Volleyball Club of Burundi tomorrow.
