The Muungano Cup is an annual activity that is contested among universities and other volleyball clubs who are willing to be part of the tournament. This year's Muungano Cup was scheduled from the 4th to the 7th of April Participants walked away with different prizes depending on their ranking and performance at the tournament. Zambian International volleyball player, who plays for Kampala University side, Mainess Ngoma scooped the best blocker at this year's tournament and was awarded a certificate to her name. Sunday, 8th May 2023, the Zambia Volleyball Association (ZVA) congratulated Mainess for her consented effort and the best blocker award she scooped at the tournament. "We would love to congratulate our Zambian international female volleyball player Mainess Ngoma (MN#007) playing for the Kampala University side in Tanzania for scooping best blocker of the Muungano Cup which ran from Thursday to Saturday 2023," The Association said. In an interview, Ngoma disclosed that she is always inspired by her background and various people who are always by her side including her family.
