Power Dynamos' striker Andy Boyeli and midfielder Joshua Mutale have been included in the shortlist for the prestigious MTN Super League Player of the Year award. Their contributions were instrumental in Power Dynamos' title victory, their first in 12 years. Boyeli, who scored a remarkable 18 goals throughout the season, emerged as the league's top scorer, while Mutale played a vital role in the team's success. Andrew Phiri of FC MUZA, who finished second with 13 goals, completes the three-man shortlist. Both Phiri and Mutale have also been nominated for the Young Player of the Year award, alongside FC MUZA midfielder Gift Simanansa. FC MUZA, who finished behind Power Dynamos in the league, secured their first-ever qualification for continental football. In the Coach of the Year category, Lameck Banda of FC MUZA, Mwenya Chipepo of Power Dynamos, and Masautso Tembo of Green Buffaloes are the contenders for the prestigious award. For the second consecutive year, Red Arrows' striker James Chamanga has been nominated for the Most Disciplined Footballer of the Year award. Chamanga, who won the award in 2022, is joined by his captain Benedict Chepeshi and Frederick Mulambia from Power Dynamos. The Best Referee shortlist includes Gloria Sambumba, Hillary Hambaba, and Audrick Nkole, while Meck Zulu, Diana Chikotesha, and Trywell Nyirenda are the nominees for the Best Assistant Referee award. The MTN Awards gala is scheduled to take place on Friday, June 9, 2023, at Garden Court in Kitwe.
