Zambia and South Africa will face off in their second Group B match of the TotalEnergies U17 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) Algeria 2023 this evening at the Mohamed Hamlaoui stadium in Constantine. The match is scheduled to kick off at 21h00CAT and will be broadcast live on SuperSport and TopStar. Zambia will be looking to recover from their narrow 1-0 loss to Nigeria in their opening match, while South Africa will aim to bounce back from their 2-0 defeat to Morocco. This encounter will mark the third time in the last five months that these two teams have met, with the last two matches ending in a 1-0 win for Zambia at the COSAFA Championship in Malawi. Zambia went on to lift the title at Bingu National Stadium. The match presents an opportunity for South Africa to avenge their previous defeats while Zambia aims to keep their unbeaten run and quarter-final hopes alive. Shadreck Kalyati, who produced vital saves in the Nigeria match, is expected to start in goal for Zambia, supported by defenders Charles Kampamba, Sekanji Siame, Aaron Simpasa, Milimo Nalumango, or Josiah Kabandula. Mwaliteta Junior, Lweendo Chimuka, and David Hamasenya are all available to play in the back line for this important clash. Skipper Aaron Mbemba Phiri will command the midfield, with Joseph Liteta, Emmanuel Mwanza, Josim Sikazwe, Samson Malaya, or Stanley Nyamikwe expected to complete the numbers. Marcel Zimba, who scored in the previous match between the two teams at the TotalEnergies U17 AFCON Algeria 2023 | COSAFA Qualifier in Lilongwe, is likely to start upfront alongside Luketekelo Kapowa or Linecker Mbesuma. The top four teams at this year’s U17 AFCON will secure slots in the 2023 FIFA U17 World Cup scheduled to take place later this year. Graphic-FAZ Media
