Easterners claimed victory in the inaugural National Cousinship Golf Championship at Chainama Hills Golf Club in Lusaka, securing the title with an impressive 196 points under the leadership of Welani Chilengwe. The Bantu Botatwe team, led by Geoffrey Kayukwa, secured second place with 179 points, while the combined team of Northerners, Luapula, and Muchinga, led by Mubanga Mwiko, took the third spot with 178 points. The tournament drew attention from the Ministry of Youth, Sport, and Arts, with Permanent Secretary Kangwa Chileshe gracing the event. Chileshe encouraged the organizers to persist in hosting such events, emphasizing their role in promoting unity in the country. He said traditional cousinship is significant for conflict management within kingdoms. Chairing the organizing committee, Peter Nzala explained that the tournament aimed to embody the spirit of the "One Zambia, One Nation" motto, fostering a sense of unity and camaraderie among all tribes.
