The Zambia National Handball Team succumbed to a 40-21 defeat against the Democratic Republic of Congo in a challenging opening encounter at the 2024 African Handball Championships, in Cairo, Egypt. Zambia kicked off their Group A campaign on January 17th against a strong DR Congo team. Unfortunately, DR Congo proved too strong, dominating the match and mirroring a parallel situation at the Africa Cup of Nations where Zambia also faced a challenging 1-1 draw against DR Congo. Despite this defeat, the Zambian squad remains resolute, fortified by a collective spirit of determination and teamwork. Looking ahead to their next clash, scheduled for Friday, January 19, 2024, the Zambian team is set to square off against Cape Verde in the second match of Group A. Cape Verde, having secured a victory over Rwanda, poses another tough challenge for Zambia.
