The Zambian forward struck in the 25th minute, latching onto a long ball from Joe Aribo and firing past Hamburg goalkeeper Daniel Heuer Fernandes. James Tavernier doubled Rangers' lead from the penalty spot in additional time in the first half after Sakala was fouled in the box. Hamburg pulled a goal back in the final minute through Jean-Luc Dompe's free-kick, but Rangers held on for the win.
