Fashion Sakala scored the opening goal as Rangers defeated Hamburg 2-1 in a pre-season friendly at Ibrox on Saturday afternoon. The Zambian forward struck in the 25th minute, latching onto a long ball from Joe Aribo and firing past Hamburg goalkeeper Daniel Heuer Fernandes. James Tavernier doubled Rangers' lead from the penalty spot in additional time in the first half after Sakala was fouled in the box. Hamburg pulled a goal back in the final minute through Jean-Luc Dompe's free-kick, but Rangers held on for the win. The result was a good confidence boost for Rangers ahead of the start of the new season. Sakala, who was recently linked with a move to Saudi Arabia, was one of the standout performers for Rangers. The 25-year-old was a constant threat in the final third and his goal was a well-taken finish. Rangers will next face Blackpool in a pre-season friendly on Tuesday.
