The Video Assistant Referee (VAR) will make its debut in tomorrow's historic ABSA CUP Final, according to the project manager, Janny Sikazwe, as confirmed by FAZ. The teams participating in the final received a briefing at ABSA House this morning regarding the use of VAR, its rules, and expectations. Mr. Sikazwe emphasized that VAR would be employed to ensure fairness in the game, specifically in scenarios such as goal checking, direct red card decisions, mistaken identity, and penalties. Players were cautioned against instructing the referee to request a VAR check, as it would be considered a bookable offense, potentially resulting in a red card. Furthermore, additional added time will be allocated in each half to account for the time consumed by VAR checks. The Absa Cup Final, featuring Forest Rangers and FC MUZA, will take place tomorrow at Woodlands Stadium at 15:00 hrs, and it will be attended by His Excellency, Mr. Hakainde Hichilema.
