Wedson Nyirenda has performed a remarkable feat by guiding Zanaco football club to safety in the league, avoiding the embarrassment of demotion, and securing their position among well-sponsored teams in the super league. The team's survival was ensured thanks to a draw between Lumwana Radiants and Nkwazi. Although Zanaco suffered a 2-1 defeat to FC MUZA, an unexpected contender in the league who has qualified for the CAF Confederation Cup, the 2-2 draw between Lumwana Radiants and Nkwazi meant that neither team could surpass Zanaco's 41 points on the league table with one match remaining in the season. In April, Zanaco appointed the experienced former Chipolopolo coach Wedson Nyirenda on an interim basis, following the departure of underperforming coaches Kelvin Kaindu and Nigerian Consultant Emmanuel Amuneke. Nyirenda faced a challenging task as Zanaco had gone eight games without a win before his appointment. However, he managed to turn things around. and in light of his achievement, Nyirenda expressed his joy and gratitude on social media, acknowledging the difficulty of the challenge and attributing the success to the efforts of the players, coaches, and backroom staff. Nyirenda's accomplishment in keeping Zanaco in their rightful league is commendable, and the team can now look forward to regrouping and building on their performance for future seasons. This achievement underscores the importance of strong leadership and effective coaching in revitalizing a struggling team and securing its position among the top contenders in the league.
