Atletico Lusaka Football Club defied the odds and secured their place in the FAZ National Division One after narrowly escaping relegation on the final day of the season. The Lusaka-based team also established itself as the second-highest-scoring team in the league, with an impressive tally of 48 goals. Only Mufulira surpassed their goal count by a mere two goals. Remarkably, Atletico Lusaka boasted the youngest squad in the league, with an astonishing 95% of their players under the age of 20, averaging just 18.1 years old. Debuting in the league this season, Atletico Lusaka faced numerous challenges and found themselves battling in the relegation zone at certain stages. However, their young and talented squad persevered and managed to secure their position in the division. The team's commitment to nurturing young players has also made them a valuable source of talent for the national team at junior levels. Unfortunately, relegation proved inevitable for Kafue Celtic, Livingstone Pirates, Barts FC, and Lusaka Dynamos, as they will be relegated to provincial football next season. The four demoted teams will be replaced by the winners of the playoffs, which are scheduled to take place later this month in Lusaka. The playoffs will witness a fierce battle among the league winners from all ten provinces of the country, determining the four teams that will qualify for the FAZ National Division One in the upcoming season.
