The Zambia Women’s National Team will enter camp next month for their final preparations for the FIFA Women’s World Cup. FAZ President Andrew Kamanga confirmed the development in his weekly column, stating that the team will enter a local camp on 3 June in Lusaka ahead of their international camp before the tournament. The Copper Queens were earlier reported to be camping in Spain, but Kamanga revealed that they will now camp in Germany instead. The team is expected to play three high-profile international friendly matches before heading to New Zealand for the World Cup. Zambia will face the 22nd highest-ranked team in the world, Ireland, on 22 June before facing Switzerland, ranked 20th in the world, eight days later. The Copper Queens will then face two-time World Champions and eight-time European Champions, Germany, who are currently ranked 2nd in the world. Zambia is in Group C alongside Spain, Japan, and Costa Rica. The World Cup will kick off on July 20 in Australia/New Zealand. The Copper Queens will open their World Cup campaign on July 22 against Japan in Hamilton before facing Spain four days later at Eden Park Auckland. The final Group C match will be against Costa Rica on July 31 at Waikato Stadium in Hamilton. The Copper Queens will enter the local camp with local and foreign-based players on June 3, which will kick off activities that will culminate in an international camp in Germany. Kamanga expressed confidence in the team's ability to perform well in the World Cup, stating that they have been working hard in their preparations. Zambia's participation in the World Cup is historic, as it will be their first appearance in the tournament. The team has been preparing for the competition since their qualification, and they have played several international friendly matches to gain experience and improve their performance. The team's participation in the World Cup is expected to boost women's football in Zambia and inspire young girls to take up the sport. With their final preparations set to begin, the Copper Queens will be looking to make the most of their opportunity to shine on the world stage and make their country proud. Picture -FAZ Media
