Green Buffaloes Women’s Football Club successfully defended their FAZ Women’s Super League title in a thrilling final day of action. The Zambia army-sponsored team secured a 1-0 victory over Queens Academy to claim the championship, while their closest challengers, Red Arrows, could only manage a goalless draw with Bauleni United Sports Academy Queens. Heading into the final day of the season, Red Arrows only needed a win to dethrone Green Buffaloes, while the defending champions required a victory and for Arrows to drop points. Green Buffaloes traveled to Shamuel Ground to face a tough BUSA team that they had struggled against in the past, while Red Arrows faced Bauleni United Sports Academy Queens. Despite dominating possession, Red Arrows could not find a way past BUSA Queens and were held to a frustrating draw. Meanwhile, in Kabwe, Maylan Mulenga scored a superb free-kick in the 41st minute to give Green Buffaloes a 1-0 win and secure the championship with 81 points. Elsewhere, ZISD Women beat Play It Forward 2-0, National Assembly edged Trident Queens 1-0, YASA Queens beat relegated Mufulira Wanderers 2-0, and ZESCO Ndola Girls beat Lumwana Radiants 2-0. Green Eagles and Indeni Roses played out a goalless draw, while Elite Ladies secured a well-deserved 2-0 win over Nkwazi Queens thanks to goals from Thandiwe Nkhata and Madyina Ngulube. The top scorer of the season was Elite Ladies' Xiomara Mapepa with 28 goals, followed by Ochumba Oseke Lubanji with 26 goals. However, neither player could score on the final day of the season, leaving Maylan Mulenga of Green Buffaloes Women’s Football Club with 23 goals as the third-highest scorer. Her spectacular free-kick proved to be the decisive goal in the title-winning match.
