NATIONAL Division One leader Trident over the weekend ended their four-match winless run after beating Zesco Malaiti Rangers 2-0 in a Week 28 fixture. Trident has 53 points, five clear of second-placed 'Mighty' Mufulira Wanderers and Mutondo Stars, who are third. Defender Lee Ngoma and striker Jackson Silwimba netted in either half at Sentinel Ground in Kalumbila. Legendary side Wanderers' hopes of bouncing back to the Super League on Sunday gained momentum after thumping Mpulungu Harbour 3-0 at Shinde Stadium in Mufulira. Evans Chisanga put the home side ahead 41 minutes before leading scorer Clive Biyeta doubled the lead in the 58th minute. It was Biyeta's 18th goal of the season. Lima Ndeke sealed victory 10 minutes from time. The Wanderers have 48 points at par with Mutondo, but the former have a better goal difference. Mutondo brightened their chances of winning promotion after edging Atletico Lusaka 1-0 in Luanshya Titus Chansa netted the solitary goal in the 20th minute in Luanshya. Elsewhere Sharp's Konkola Blades earned a vital point away from home after battling to a barren draw with Young Green Buffaloes to stretch their unbeaten run to five matches.
