Zedpro Sports Academy, a newly established football academy in Lusaka, has set out to empower young girls through sports. The academy's founding partner and CEO, Mulunga Jones Shimbela, speaking with ZED SPORT expressed his inspiration for launching the academy, citing the lack of opportunities for women in the male-dominated sports world. Recognizing the growing interest in women's football, Sichimbela aims to promote sports development, particularly in the field of football, and nurture the talents of aspiring female athletes. The academy will offer academic education, financial education, leadership skills, and more, aiming to provide young girls with the confidence and tools necessary for a better life. With an age group target ranging from 8 to 25, the academy welcomes girls with a passion for football and basic skills. It plans to focus on enhancing mental and physical strength, as well as providing formal education and entrepreneurship skills to its participants. To ensure the well-being of the girls, a team of teachers, doctors, educators, and business professionals will oversee their activities both on and off the pitch. However, the academy anticipates several challenges in the future. Cultural barriers may arise as some girls struggle to gain parental consent to participate in women's football. Additionally, the lack of infrastructure poses financial burdens that could hinder the academy's progress. To address these issues, Zedpro Sports Academy has implemented a support system to navigate cultural challenges and aims to secure sufficient funding for infrastructure development. As the football academy for ladies embarks on its journey, it aspires to create a society where girls can sustain themselves through their talents in football, providing them with a pathway to a brighter future.
