Esther Siamfuko and Lushomo Mweemba, key players for the Copper Queens, have returned to full training with the Green Buffaloes Women's Football Club after recovering from their injuries sustained towards the end of the season. This is great news for both the players and the team as they prepare for the upcoming 2023 FIFA Women's World Cup. Mweemba had suffered an ankle injury back in March, which had also forced her to miss the Copper Queens' trip to Korea. It was a difficult period for her, but with dedicated rehabilitation and recovery, she has successfully returned to the training field. Her presence will be invaluable to the team, given her skills and experience. Siamfuko, on the other hand, suffered her injury a little later in the season and was unable to participate in the last few games. However, she has made significant progress in her recovery and is now back in training. Her dynamic playing style and versatility will greatly contribute to the team's performance in the upcoming tournament. Both players have been named in coach Bruce Mwape's 35-member FIFA Women's World Cup provisional squad. The 2023 FIFA Women's World Cup will take place in Australia and New Zealand from July 20 to August 20, 2023. The Copper Queens have been placed in Group C and will kick off their debut outing against Japan on July 22. Before the World Cup, the Copper Queens will establish their training base in Furth, Germany. They have planned a series of high-profile matches in Europe as part of their preparations. These matches include encounters against the Republic of Ireland, Switzerland, and Germany, providing the team with valuable international exposure and challenging competition ahead of the tournament.
