The Northwestern Judo League commenced on July 29, 2023, with a remarkable opening ceremony at Meheba Refugee Settlement. The event was led by Mr. Mabvuto Ng’uni, the General Secretary of the Judo Association of Zambia. The competition drew participation from more than 100 contestants, representing four clubs, including two Judo for Peace clubs: Meheba Judo Club from Northwestern Province and Mayukwayukwa Judo Club from Kaoma, Western Province. The Green Eagles Judo Club of the Zambia National Service emerged as the victors in the fiercely contested event. The final rankings were as follows: 1st position - Green Eagle Judo Club, 2nd position - Meheba Judo Club, and 3rd position (Tied) - Mayukwayukwa Judo Club and Zambia Police Judo Club. Remarkably, some of the participants were as young as 12 years old, showcasing the sport's inclusivity and appeal to all age groups.
