Current MTN Super League leaders Power Dynamos head coach has sent a scathing message to his critics following an incident at the barren draw against Green Buffaloes in Lusaka where he was booed by a section of the traveling supporters. Aba Yellow has been on an impressive run this term in the Super League as they lead the standings by seven points with just six games left to play. However, Chipepo has not been spared of heated criticism by a section of club supporters despite steering the team through a streak of good results and looking set to clinch the league title for the first time since 2012. Speaking in an interview on Sunday after his side’s draw against Buffaloes, Chipepo described Sunday’s encounter as ‘tough’ but was satisfied with amassing a point away from home. “The game was very tough, Green Buffaloes are currently on top of their game and have young players, very energetic and very serious,” Chipepo said. “The way they (Buffaloes) are managing the team, you can see that that is not the Green Buffaloes we used to see previously, “We were very happy as Power Dynamos to pick a point because a point is better than nothing, to pick up a point at Imboela was not easy” he added. Chipepo said he felt underappreciated by his critics for having transformed the club into a league title-contending side since his arrival last year in October 2021. “One day I will leave Power Dynamos, I will not lie to you because those do not appreciate, they don’t even know what they are doing,” he said. “Look at what was happening at the club previously, I don’t even know how I can explain these things, it was a finished club but because I’m a son of Power Dynamos, I respect my employers they are the people who took me to school they are the people who made me what I am today.” Chipepo who featured for Dynamos during his playing days said there was a group of fans who had the agenda to make his stay at the club a torrid one. “There is just a section of people who are working with one of the people I am working with at the club and they just want to destroy, they want to frustrate me but I believe in my employers and the other supporters,” he said. Meanwhile, Chipepo also expressed disappointment with the club leadership for their lack of action over the matter despite being close and in full sight of the fans’ loathing of him. “Those are not genuine supporters, the one thing I’m disappointed with is that they sit in the grandstand where our executive members are seated but they don’t react to those people, “I was very annoyed, as a normal human being they disturb me, that is a big job when you are trying to concentrate and people are disturbing you what can you do?” he quizzed. He continued: “That is just 90 minutes and people are disturbing you, so how many minutes are you going to remain with, some people were insulting me and our officials were just watching.” Chipepo has since sent an apology to the nation for his reaction to the fans’ boos at the Edwin Imboela Stadium on Sunday. “I apologize to the nation but I am a normal human being and can react to such a situation” he concluded. Power currently sits at the summit of the table with 52 points, six ahead of second-placed Green Buffaloes while they are also in contention for the ABSA Cup title as they face Forest Rangers in the semi-finals this coming weekend.
