Red Arrows Women's Football Club kept their dreams of clinching their first Women's Super League title alive by defeating Mufulira Wanderers 3-1 at Central Sports Damiano Academy Ground in Mufulira on Sunday. The victory took Red Arrows to the top of the league table with 76 points, four points ahead of second-placed Green Buffaloes, who were defeated 2-1 by Zesco Ndola Girls at Trade Fair Ground in Ndola. Red Arrows dominated the game from the outset and opened the scoring after 10 minutes through Esnart Mukubwe, who converted Mary Wilombe's cross. Wilombe added the second goal for Red Arrows in the 25th minute when she capitalized on a rebound from Ochumba Oseke's initial shot. Despite the numerous opportunities to extend their lead, Wilombe missed a chance to make it 3-0, hitting the ball over the cross-bar. However, Oseke made it 3-0 for Red Arrows early in the second half, scoring her 25th goal of the season, just two goals behind the league's leading scorer, Xiomara Mapepa of Elite Ladies. Mufulira Wanderers managed to pull one back in the dying minutes of the game through Faith Daka, but it was too little too late. In other games played on Sunday, Green Eagles defeated Play it Forward Queens 2-0 at Zambia National Service Chamber Valley Ground, while Zanaco Ladies lost 2-1 to National Assembly at Sunset Stadium in Lusaka. At Margaret Mwanakatwe Grounds, ZISD Women secured their fifth win of the season by beating Bauleni United Sports Academy Queens 2-1. Xiomara Mapepa scored twice for Elite Ladies in their 2-1 victory over Prison Leopards Queens, taking her team to 62 points and fourth position on the league table. Red Arrows coach Simon Bwali expressed his delight with the victory and his team's performance, which puts them in a strong position to win the league title.
