Football Association of Zambia President Andrew Kamanga confirmed that defender Stophila Sunzu will join the squad directly in Ndola upon their return from a week-long camp in South Africa. The team is currently preparing for an upcoming AFCON qualifier against Ivory Coast, scheduled to take place at Levy Mwanawansa Stadium in Ndola. All 29 players initially named in the provisional squad for the Ivory Coast game are currently in camp, except Sunzu and the newly naturalized Aime Mabika. President Kamanga confirmed that Mabika is the only doubt for the Saturday game due to personal matters, although it is likely that he will report for national duty. Last week, Mabika was issued a Zambian passport, which had been the only obstacle preventing him from representing the national team in official matches. President Kamanga stated, "Everyone reported on day one of the camps and has been focused on the job at hand. As of today, only one player will join directly in Ndola, while the newly naturalized Aime Mabika remains a doubt for this match as he resolves some personal matters." Zambia is determined to secure qualification for the AFCON tournament next year, having missed the previous three editions. They need just a single point from the remaining two games to seal their qualification and make a triumphant return to the prestigious tournament.
