Junior Chipolopolo, will commence their journey in the TotalEnergies Under-17 tournament today as they face Nigeria in their opening game. The match will take place at 18:00hrs and will be broadcasted live on SuperSport and Topstar Tv. Zambia is making a comeback to this tournament for the first time since 2015. Ahead of the tournament, the Junior Chipolopolo played several friendly matches, including a 4-1 defeat against Napsa Stars, a 1-1 draw against City of Lusaka football club, and a 4-2 win against fellow AFCON participant Senegal in a game played in Algiers. The Ian Bakala-coached team will be looking to capitalize on their excellent performance against Senegal as they take on Nigeria, a team that has a perfect record against Zambia at this level. The two sides met for the first time in 2015, with Nigeria emerging victorious with a 3-1 win in Niamey, Niger Republic. In that game, Victor Osimhen scored two goals, and Kelechi Nwakali netted the other, while Zambia's only goal came from their captain, Patson Daka. The Junior Chipolopolo will have to bring their A-game to break Nigeria's unbeaten streak at this level. With a promising performance in their friendly match against Senegal, they are determined to give their best shot at the tournament. graphic-FAZ Media
