NAPSA Stars coach, Perry Mutapa, has lauded the remarkable campaign of the Pensioners in the 2022/2023 FAZ Super League season, considering it as one of their best seasons to date. Having secured promotion from the national division one league, NAPSA Stars displayed an impressive performance, narrowly missing out on the second spot, which would have granted them qualification for the CAF Confederations Cup. Mutapa expressed his pride in his team, highlighting their undefeated record at their new home venue, the National Heroes Stadium. Following a hard-fought 1-1 draw against Forest Rangers at the Heroes Stadium on Friday, Mutapa addressed the media, stating that he was not disappointed by their final league position. He emphasized that the primary objective was to stabilize the team, acknowledging that football is a continuous project. Mutapa commended the progress made by his players since their promotion from the Division One league, their triumph in the ABSA Cup, and their overall improvement in playing style, particularly on their home turf. He expressed optimism for the upcoming season, stating that the aim is to continue progressing and striving for better results. Although NAPSA Stars had their sights set on securing the second position, which would have secured their qualification, Mutapa acknowledged that their impressive standing at the 30-week mark was a testament to their potential. He described the season for the Pensioners as fantastic, despite a challenging period during which they encountered some setbacks. Notably, NAPSA Stars achieved notable victories against prominent teams, including the defending champions, demonstrating their capability to compete at the highest level. Mutapa acknowledged that they faced difficulties in games played at the Edwin Imboela Stadium or Nkoloma, resulting in some home losses. However, overall, he expressed satisfaction with the team's performance. PICTURE - NAPSA STARS
