On Wednesday, 29th March 2023, the Netball Association of Zambia has elevated Lazarus Tembo from National Team Assistant Coach to head Coach. This follows a series of hard work and dedication by Tembo to the National team where he was serving as an assistant coach. Lazarus who is also Lusaka City Council (LCC) Netball Club Coach takes over from his head coach Charles Zulu who has been appointed as National Trainer of Trainers for Coaches. Announcing the appointments in Lusaka, Netball Zambia Secretary General Pritchard Ngoma says Tembo will be assisted by former International Martha Kafupi who was until her appointment Under 20 National Team Assistant Coach. Also being appointed today is Kapiri-based umpire Davis Sichoonga who will be the National Trainer of Trainers for the Umpires. “Appointment is with immediate effect and for one year subject to review every Six Months. With this appointment, you, therefore, cease to be the National Team Coach. Given the aforesaid, you are to provide the technical committee the updated database of coaches trained and needs for each particular area," reads part of the letter sent to Zulu.
