Toronto FC has announced the signing of Zambian defender Aime Mabika from Inter-Miami FC on a one-year deal, with an option to extend for two more years. The transfer deal is reportedly worth K1.7 million ($100,000 in 2024 General Allocation Money (GAM)). Inter Miami will also receive up to an additional $100,000 in conditional GAM if performance-based metrics are met and retain a 25% sell-on percentage for Mabika. Mabika, 24, was originally selected by Inter Miami as the 26th overall selection in the 2021 MLS SuperDraft. He spent the 2021 season with Inter Miami CF II (formerly Fort Lauderdale CF), where he made 14 appearances and logged 1,260 minutes across the USL League One regular season. Mabika signed a First Team contract with Inter Miami CF on January 13, 2022, and made 18 appearances across all competitions (MLS, MLS Cup Playoffs, and U.S. Open Cup) in his first season with the club.
