Over the weekend, NGONIS showcased an impressive display of skill and determination as they secured victory against the Bembas in a yearly golf tournament coinciding with the Ukusefya pa Ng'wena Traditional Ceremony in Kasama. Edward Phiri, the general secretary of the Zambia Golf Union (ZGU), stated that the tournament aimed to reinforce the national motto of "One Zambia, One Nation," with players from various tribes participating. The Ngonis achieved a score of 176 points, outshining the Bembas' 173 points in a stableford competition that featured 46 players. Phiri emphasized that the event extended beyond just the Ngonis and Bembas, welcoming participants from other tribes such as Luvales, Tongas, Kaondes, Lozis, and more. He expressed his satisfaction with the high level of competitiveness throughout the tournament, stating, "We really enjoyed it, and it was very competitive." Commending the Ngonis' outstanding performance, Phiri highlighted the excitement of defeating the Bembas in front of the Chitimukulu. He remarked, "As Ngonis, we were only 12 out of a field of 46, but we still managed to beat these outspoken Bembas, which shows that it is now our turn to dominate." He revealed that the Bembas, who were keen on avenging their previous loss during the Nc'wala tournament, were left disheartened and even refrained from partaking in the food served at the ceremony due to their defeat. In this tournament celebrated within the context of the Ukusefya pa Ng'wena Traditional Ceremony, NGONIS demonstrated their prowess and exemplified the spirit of unity encapsulated by the motto "One Zambia, One Nation."
