Zambia daily mail reports that Zambian Legends and Africa Legends are set to face off in an exhibition match organized by Kings of Africa Sports (KOAS) in partnership with the Zambian government. Following the successful hosting of the Barcelona Legends, led by Ronaldinho Gaucho, this upcoming match aims to raise the profile of Zambian football further. The Africa Legends squad will feature renowned players such as Didier Drogba and Augustine 'Jay Jay' Okocha, among others. Antonio Shabir Wadee, chairman of KOAS, announced during a press briefing in Lusaka. He revealed that former world stars, including Michael Essien and Hadji Diouf, will also join the African Legends lineup. In addition, KOAS unveiled the official jersey that the Zambian Legends will wear during exhibition matches. The Ministry of Youth, Sport, and Arts has expressed its enthusiasm for the event, signing a five-year memorandum of understanding (MOU) with KOAS. Kangwa Chileshe, the Permanent Secretary of the ministry, emphasized the positive impact of hosting previous matches, such as the encounter between the 2012 Chipolopolo Africa Cup of Nations winning squad and the Barcelona Legends. Chileshe highlighted the ministry's dedication to promoting sports development and encouraged Zambian youths with progressive ideas to come forward for support. KOAS aims to continue marketing Zambia's tourism industry through these exhibition matches, recognizing the potential economic benefits they bring. The successful hosting of international legends unites the country and attracts tourists, raising awareness about Zambia's attractions such as Victoria Falls. By showcasing the country directly, KOAS hopes to encourage visitors to spend their money within Zambia and contribute to the local economy. The funds raised from the match will be announced once the private auditors engaged by KOAS complete their work.
