Zambia Golf Union (ZGU) Secretary Edward Phiri highlighted golf's potential as a catalyst for sports tourism, especially given the sport's relatively lower recognition. Phiri emphasized that engaging distinguished dignitaries and piquing their interest in golf showcased the positive impact of events that promote sports and build meaningful community connections. "The acknowledgment underscored the importance of sports organizations such as Zambia Golf Union in fostering a culture of sportsmanship, healthy competition, and overall well-being. Our participation in the first Sports Expo and Forum organized by the Zambia Diaspora organization was a resounding success," he stated. Phiri emphasized that the recent Zambia Sports Expo and Forum, organized by ZGU, not only fostered sportsmanship but also provided a vital platform to highlight the sport's merits and its potential contribution to national development. He further explained that golf, beyond its health and fitness benefits, contributes to personal growth, community involvement, and even golf tourism. "Golf allows you to connect with nature, providing an escape from the pressures of daily life. Golf clubs offer a tranquil oasis where you can enjoy good company amidst lush greenery and breathtaking landscapes," Phiri elaborated. The ZGU's exhibition stand received significant attention from distinguished figures, including Sports Minister Elvis Nkandu, Education Minister Douglas Syakalima, and Tourism Minister Rodney Sikumba. This notable recognition underscores the sport's influence and its potential to make a meaningful impact on the community. Phiri expressed the ZGU's delight at the keen interest shown by dignitaries in the sport and its potential for community engagement. The success of the Sports Expo and Forum further reinforced the ZGU's commitment to nurturing a culture of sportsmanship and promoting golf as a critical player in the realm of sports tourism.
