In an insightful address at the UEFA Career Transition Program for ex-players held at Ciela Hotel in Lusaka, Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) President Andrew Kamanga emphasized the ongoing challenges faced by former footballers who find themselves in destitution after retiring from the sport. While FAZ has implemented initiatives to integrate ex-footballers into various football structures, such as coaching roles for national teams and punditry opportunities with broadcast partners, Kamanga noted that a significant number of players still struggle to adapt to life after their playing careers come to an end. During the event organized by UEFA, the governing body for European football, representatives were invited to Zambia to conduct a comprehensive Career Transition Program. This program aims to equip former and current players with information about post-career options and opportunities, ultimately aiding them in their transition into a new phase of their lives. The workshop has attracted esteemed attendees, including former national team striker James Chamanga and long-serving Napsa Stars player Keegan Zulu, among others. By bringing together players from different generations, the program offers a platform for sharing experiences, discussing challenges, and providing guidance on post-career paths.
