Chipolopolo midfielder Clatous Chota Chama expressed his delight with the team's qualification for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations. Chama dismissed rumours suggesting his dissatisfaction with Coach Avram Grant's decision to leave him on the bench during the victory over Ivory Coast on Saturday. Speaking on a Facebook Live session monitored by Zed Sport, the Chipolopolo star stated that he was content with Grant's choice and pleased with the performance of the selected players. Chama emphasised the collective goal of playing for the nation rather than personal achievements, stating, "I'm okay with the coach's decision; we play football for the nation, not for ourselves. The players who featured in the match performed well. When the game is going smoothly, you would hope the coach doesn't make substitutions." He further expressed his satisfaction with the players who played, the coach's decision, and the support from the fans, highlighting his happiness regarding the team's qualification. Acknowledging the potential consequences of making a mistake had he been allowed to play, Chama added, "What if I came on and made a mistake, and we lost or drew the game? What would people have said?" He stressed the importance of being prepared for one's chance and expressed confidence that his opportunity would arise, affirming his readiness for it when it does.
