The gap in quality between the Zambia women's national soccer team and the South Korean national soccer team was seen in the second half of the two teams' first friendly match played on Saturday in Seoul south Korea as the Copper Queens conceded four goals in the second half to lose 5-2 on the day. Speaking in the post-match interview coach Bruce Mwape lamented that his defense gave away cheap goals as he pointed out that out of the five goals they conceded only one goal Korea worked hard for it as the rest of the goals were due to his team's poor showing in defense. Zambia is set to play their second game on Tuesday against the same opponent in the two line-up friendlies in preparation for the upcoming world cup this summer. The Copper Queen's coach also acknowledged the absence of his two starter players Belemu and Mweemba as the reason the shape of his defense didn't work out according to his liking. Mwape said that his team played well, especially in the first half coming from a goal down to lead 2-1 at the break which was down to some individual brilliance as opposed to teamwork which should have been the case. And the captain of the team Barbra Banda also pointed out that there was a problem with the way her team defended as she pointed out that going forward she hopes the coaches will do what is supposed to be done to change the way the team defends. “We started very well, just that at some point we committed errors that we need to fix as a team. because in whatever we do we need to do as a team, and I think we made some mistakes that I think our coaches will look at them and we need to do our level best in the next game.” Banda said that she expects the team to do well in the next game as they now have an idea of how their opponent plays having played them for the first time. And striker Racheal Kundanaji who scored Zambia'sfirst goal also pointed out the weakness in defense in her team saying that everyone was going back to defend which worked to the disadvantage of the team in the attacking phase as they ended up having less personnel in attack when there was turn over of possession. South Korean women's national team ranks 17th on the global ranking with Zambia currently ranking 77th in the world. FAZ
