The highly anticipated ABSA Cup final between Ndola giants Forest Rangers and giant killers MUZA FC will not take place at Heroes Stadium, as confirmed by the Football Association of Zambia (FAZ). Recently, Heroes Stadium was declared unfit to host international matches by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) following inspections conducted during Zambia's bid to host the 2027 Africa Cup. Originally, the historic final was scheduled to take place at Heroes Stadium this weekend. However, the final has now been rescheduled to May 27, 2023, and FAZ is expected to announce the new venue that will host this exciting showdown between the Absa Cup final first-timers. Despite the change in plans, both Forest Rangers and MUZA FC are reportedly not worried about the rescheduling of the final. Forest Rangers have expressed their intention to utilize the extra time to prepare for the big match. On the other hand, MUZA FC sees the rescheduling as a blessing in disguise, as it provides valuable time for their top scorer, Andrew Phiri, to recover from an injury he sustained during their 2-1 victory over Zanaco. This crucial win secured the Super Division second spot for MUZA FC and sealed their qualification for the CAF Confederation Cup. Football enthusiasts will eagerly await FAZ's announcement regarding the new venue, where Forest Rangers and MUZA FC will battle it out to claim the prestigious ABSA Cup.
