UEFA, the governing body of European football, has commended the Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) for its consistent efforts in implementing various programs aimed at the development of football in Zambia and beyond. Eva Pasquier, Head of International Relations at UEFA, expressed pride in FAZ and encouraged the association to continue its valuable work in implementing key initiatives. Speaking at the official opening of the UEFA Career Transition Programme (CTP), a four-day vocational program designed to assist players in planning their professional futures off the pitch, Pasquier acknowledged the commitment of FAZ to taking football development seriously. She emphasized the importance of dedicated individuals and their contributions to the success of African football, highlighting FAZ as a shining example of such dedication. The UEFA CTP attracts participants from across the continent, including renowned players such as James Chamanga from Red Arrows and Keegan Zulu from NAPSA Stars. The program helps players identify their transferable skills, explore various job opportunities, and learn how to apply their knowledge and experience in different contexts. Among the participants are also prominent figures like Andisiwe Mgcoyi from Banyana Banyana and Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies, Diphetogo "Dipsy" Selolwane, a former Botswana midfielder, and Pulcherie Jovanie Assene, a Cameroonian footballer. The course boasts a diverse representation from countries such as Angola, Morocco, DR Congo, Egypt, Ghana, Kenya, Gabon, and Togo. The recognition from UEFA not only reinforces the commendable work undertaken by FAZ but also serves as an inspiration for football associations across Africa. By investing in comprehensive development programs and promoting career transition initiatives like the UEFA CTP, FAZ sets a positive example for other associations seeking to enhance football's growth and opportunities within their respective regions.
