June 9th, 2023, the Zambia Rugby Union President, Chileshe Bweupe took time to visit the Zambia Rugby Ladies 7s Team who are currently in camp preparing for the 2024 Olympics Pre Qualifiers tournament on 1st July 2023 in Lusaka. The President unveiled the new Ladies Patron, Colonel Amos Chitembwe who is also the Red Arrows Rugby Club Chairman. Ladies Rugby has for a long time not had a Patron and it is hoped that having a Patron will push the agenda for Women's rugby forward and at the same time help uplift the welfare of the Ladies which has lagged behind their male counterparts. The President also took time to listen to the Ladies who are in camp to appreciate their challenges and pledged to address some of the issues which were shared in the shortest possible time. The Patron also pledged to ensure that the standards of Ladies' Rugby would be improved and that he would dedicate himself to ensure to prioritize the welfare needs of the girl child in Sport. Also, present at the visit and interacting with the players was the Chairperson for the Zambia Rugby Women's Association, Major Miyoba Haangala. The Ladies' team was happy with this visit and expressed themselves openly on their expectations and pledged to win the tournament and lift Zambia's flag high.
