Zanaco FC coach Wedson Nyirenda has expressed his satisfaction after helping the club to be in a better situation to avoid relegation from the FAZ Super League. The coach, who took over from the axed duo of Kelvin Kaindu and Emmanuel Amunike, was able to stabilize the club's position despite a rough patch that had seen them endure an eight-game winless run. Since his return to the Sunset Stadium for a third stint as head coach, Nyirenda has been able to redeem the club's fighting spirit, recording two wins and one draw in the last three games. In his first four matches, Nyirenda suffered only one defeat, a 3-2 away loss to Ndola giants Zesco United. After the loss in Ndola, Nyirenda guided the team to a 1-0 win over Kansanshi Dynamos before a goalless draw against Kabwe Warriors. In the last fixture, Zanaco humiliated relegation-bound Buildcon 4-0, propelling the team to 13th on the Super League table with 41 points. Nyirenda has praised his team for their efforts and highlighted the importance of their recent win against Buildcon, which has increased their hopes of surviving relegation. With two games remaining to wrap up the domestic league, the coach believes that they are on the right track and is confident that his players will come to the party in the next games against FC MUZA and Green Buffaloes. "I will add another star to my CV of now becoming a fire brigade for football teams. I think I will make it like I have done every time, winning the leagues, winning the trophies, and now saving the team from relegation, which is not something easy. It is huge and it is so stressful," said Nyirenda. Nyirenda has also called on his team to improve on their finishing going into the last two fixtures against giant killers FC MUZA and Green Buffaloes. Zanaco only needs a draw in the last two games against MUZA and Green Buffaloes to finish ahead of Nchanga Rangers and Nkwazi, who are on 36 and 35 points, respectively. The coach's efforts have not gone unnoticed, and he is already being hailed as a hero by Zanaco fans, who believe that he has what it takes to lead the team to even greater heights.
