The UEFA Football for Women capacity building program commenced yesterday in Lusaka, Zambia, intending to further uplift the status of the World Cup-bound Copper Queens. The two-day program, exclusively focused on women's football, has attracted a diverse range of participants, including current and former players, coaches, media personnel, administrators, medical doctors, and other stakeholders in the women's game. Led by Head of International Relations Eva Pasquier and a team of UEFA experts, the program aims to develop leadership skills, enhance football careers for active players, and provide a variety of capacity-building programs. Andrew Kamanga, President of the Football Association of Zambia (FAZ), lauded the women's football stakeholders for their significant contributions, which have propelled the Zambia Women's National Team to new heights. Kamanga credited their support for the team's qualification to their maiden Olympics and their impressive third-place finish at the WAFCON. With FIFA World Cup qualification achieved, Kamanga urged everyone to work even harder, expressing hope that the program would provide additional resources to further grow the women's game in Zambia. Eva Pasquier congratulated the Copper Queens and all participants for Zambia's historic qualification to the FIFA Women's World Cup, scheduled to take place from July 20 to August 20, 2023, in Australia and New Zealand. Pasquier expressed admiration for the team's achievements and pledged UEFA's support. She also highlighted that the Copper Queens would be playing preparatory matches in Europe, and UEFA would closely follow their progress. The program's collaborative nature and knowledge-sharing initiatives continue to foster growth and excellence in women's football.
