The Zambia U17 Men’s National Team has passed the mandatory Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) test ahead of the TotalEnergies U17 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), Algeria 2023. This test is required to ensure that all players are in the correct age category. The Confederation of African Football (CAF) Medical Team has cleared all the players and confirmed that all of them are eligible for selection at the tournament. According to Team Doctor Mutimba Mpabalwani, the MRI tests were conducted in Algiers, and the results were certified by CAF. Mpabalwani further stated that the MRI scans were also done in Zambia to offer the coaches a pool of players to pick from and ensure that the players picked are eligible and in the correct age bracket, allowing for fair play. Coach Ian Bakala expressed his satisfaction with the results and is looking forward to the team’s first training session in Constantine. The MRI test is an essential measure to ensure that teams field players who meet the age requirements for the U17 category. If four or more players in a team are found to be ineligible, the team is disqualified from the tournament. It is, therefore, crucial that teams adhere to the rules and regulations set out by CAF to ensure fair play. With the Zambia U17 Men’s National Team passing the MRI test, they are now eligible to compete in the U17 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) and will face Nigeria in their first Group B game. The team is motivated and ready for the tournament, and with all their players deemed eligible, they have a better chance of achieving success in the competition. Picture -FAZ Media
