In an exciting development for Zambian football fans, the Copper Queens, will be treated to a special send-off international friendly match on home soil before embarking on their journey to the 2023 FIFA Women's World Cup preparatory camp in Germany. The announcement was made by Reuben Kamanga, the general secretary of the Football Association of Zambia (FAZ). Speaking during an interview on Friday's edition of the breakfast show on Hot FM, Kamanga emphasized the importance of providing the Copper Queens with adequate preparations for the upcoming tournament. He stated that in addition to supporting the team's training, the FAZ also wants to give fans the opportunity to watch their beloved national team in action. "Zambians will have an opportunity to send them (the Copper Queens) off in Lusaka. With the preparations being lined up, we are confident that they won't disappoint," said Kamanga. He further assured the public that the technical bench is being reinforced to ensure the team's success at the World Cup. The Copper Queens have already participated in seven high-level friendly matches as part of their preparations. Notably, they are scheduled to face the Republic of Ireland on June 22 and Germany on July 7. These matches will serve as crucial tests for the team as they fine-tune their strategies and build cohesion ahead of the prestigious tournament. Kamanga expressed his appreciation for the strong relationship between FAZ and the Ministry of Sport, Youth, and Arts. He specifically thanked President Hakainde Hichilema for his personal commitment to supporting FAZ and its programs.
