The Elite Ladies Football Club Annual Awards held at Courtyard Hotel in Lusaka celebrated the outstanding achievements of the team's players. Xiomara Mapepa, the talented winger, emerged as a top winner by clinching two prestigious awards: the Fan's Player of the Year and the Best Striker of the Year. Despite facing tough competition from fellow players, Mapepa's exceptional skills and contributions to the team stood out. These accolades further cemented her remarkable season, as she had already secured the Topscorer of the Year Award for her outstanding performance in the FAZ Women's Super League. Mapepa's impressive goal tally of 28 helped Elite Ladies secure a commendable fourth-place finish, trailing behind ZESCO Ndola Girls, Red Arrows, and defending champions Green Buffaloes. Another standout performer at the ceremony was goalkeeper Chitete Munsaka, who showcased her exceptional abilities between the posts. Munsaka not only claimed the title of Best Goalkeeper but also garnered recognition as the Young Player and Players' Player of the Year 2023, as voted by her teammates. These accolades exemplify her immense talent and the high regard she holds within the Elite Ladies squad. Additionally, the awards ceremony acknowledged the exceptional abilities of other deserving players. Pauline Zulu, a dedicated and skilled defender, was honored with the Best Young Defender of the Year Award, while Comfort Selemani was recognized as the Most Improved Midfielder of the Year. These talented individuals have also been selected for the Copper Queen's 35-member FIFA World Cup provisional squad, highlighting their significant contributions to the team's success. The accomplishments of the Elite Ladies team extended beyond the Zambian borders, as two Malawian players were celebrated for their remarkable performances. Chimwemwe Madise was named the Best Midfielder of the Year, while Maydina Ngulube was awarded the Best Ambassador of the Year. Madise's commitment to fair play earned her the title of Most Disciplined Player of the Year, while Ngulube's immense potential was recognized with the Most Promising Player award. The awards ceremony concluded with the presentation of a total of 42 awards. The guest of honor, Lieutenant Colonel Kambani Lungu, emphasized the importance of discipline among the players, urging them to refrain from engaging in unsporting activities such as alcohol consumption.
