The Zambia Under-17 football team had an impressive pre-tournament friendly match against Senegal, with left-back Jonathan Kalimina stealing the show with a first-half hattrick. The match, which took place in Algiers on Monday afternoon, saw the young Zambians dominate the field, with Kalimina scoring the opening goal in the 31st minute. However, the real excitement began in the 40th minute, as Kalimina scored two quick goals in succession, leaving the Senegalese defense scrambling. The young left-back impressive performance helped the Ian Bakala tutored side to take a commanding 3-0 lead. Despite making five changes after the break, Senegal struggled to break through Zambia's defense, with Atletico Lusaka’s Marcel Zimba scoring another goal for Zambia, bringing the scoreline to 4-0. As the clock wound down, the young Teranga Lions mounted a late comeback, with Mame Mody and Amara Diouf scoring two goals for Senegal. However, it was too little, too late for the West Africans, as Zambia held on for a 4-2 victory. The Zambians are now expected to face an unconfirmed club in another friendly match before the tournament begins on 29th April. The team, which is in Group B alongside Morocco, Nigeria, and South Africa, will be hoping to carry their impressive form into the competition and make a strong bid for the title. With players like Kalimina in their ranks, Zambia is certainly a team to watch out for, and fans in Zambia will be eagerly anticipating their performance in the upcoming tournament.
