Beston Chambeshi, the coach of Nkana, a Zambian football club, recently turned 63 and has no plans of retiring anytime soon. Despite being one of the veteran coaches in the Super League, he is still going strong and is already planning for the next season. Chambeshi started his coaching career in the late 90s after having a successful playing career for Nkana, winning seven league titles as a player between 1984 and 1994. He was part of the Nkana Red Devils squad that reached the final of the then Africa Club Championship (now known as the CAF Champions League) in 1990, losing 5-4 on penalties after tying 1-1 on aggregate. Chambeshi has gone on to coach several teams, including Chambishi, Power Dynamos, Lumwana Radiants, and Kansanshi Dynamos, among others. He even trekked to Botswana for coaching purposes. In a recent interview, Chambeshi stated that he plans to continue coaching next season as long as he can stand, talk, and move. He also mentioned that there will come a time when he will say, "Thank you, I have done my part in football," but he cannot predict when that day will be. Currently, Chambeshi is focusing on leading Nkana to a respectable finish on the league table. Nkana is in 10th place with 42 points, but they still have a chance to finish second and qualify for the Confederation Cup. Green Buffaloes are in second place with 48 points, eight behind leaders Power Dynamos, who host Nkana on Saturday. Nkana has a record 13 league titles - 1982, 1983, 1985, 1986, 1988, 1989, 1990, 1992, 1993, 1999, 2001, 2013, and 2020.
